If you’re thinking about purchasing an electric vehicle (EV), your biggest concern may very well be finding an EV charging station wherever you are. You may even be wondering right now how current EV owners are able to keep their vehicle charged whenever they’re on the go. After all, the last thing anyone wants is to unexpectedly run out of power while on a road trip or an important journey.

However, it seems that this concern might be less of an issue now.

A newer version of popular navigation app Google Maps allows users to search for an EV charging station in real time. Rather than being forced to rely on static information, an EV owner can quickly use the app to find the closest EV charging station to them.

This new update affects Android, iPhone, and web users alike, meaning that it will assist a lot of people facing this specific situation.

Google Maps won’t just show you where EV charging stations are located, though. Users will also be able to find out about charging speeds and port types of all available charging stations. This will ensure that the user will be able to find the charging station that best suits their EV and their current charging needs. All you need to do is search “EV charging stations” into Google Maps (not while driving, of course) to pull up your results.

There is one issue with Google Maps’ newest update; it won’t show the locations of any Tesla Superchargers.

Tesla users don’t need to stress, though; using the EV company’s official app will fix that just fine. The networks that are currently covered include Chargemaster, EVgo, and SemaConnect. Meanwhile, Chargepoint is said to be added to that list in time.

With Google Maps making this wise move, they’ve effectively aided many EV owners with finding charging stations.

This will make looking for one during any sort of driving trip easier and less stressful. Here’s hoping that more EV charging networks will partner with Google Maps to make their own charging stations available to search on the widely popular app.
